sidewalk flowers: untold stories from people like us

A sidewalk flower: a part of nature that is almost invisible to many.  I beg to differ.                  photo credit:

Sidewalk Flowers is a community project I want to start.  The idea is that if enough people participate, we could promote creative writing within the homeless community as a means of helping them.  We could provide workshops for them to attend to and assist them with their writing, and as some sort of compensation, they receive a meal for the day.  With that said, we could also interview them in hopes to make their existence visible to others.  If enough pieces of writing are produced, we could publish an anthology to continue supporting the project all while providing more goods for these “sidewalk flowers.”  I will elaborate on this project here once I finished finalizing the details, but I want you to know that this is my dream: to help others write their stories so that they could leave their footprints and be remembered.

    1. Yes, please! I think, apart from the interviews and pieces from the homeless community, I’m only incorporating poems from others. I’d want more space for their writing. This project is about them after all.

Thank you so much! I cannot wait to start this project, so please stay tuned!
